If a food is labelled 'with beef', it legally only needs to contain 4% of that protein. The rest can be made up of other meats which can be a bit of an issue for pups with allergies. By law, wet and dry pet food companies don't have to list each individual ingredient that goes into their meals. Instead, they can list categories. Butternut Box list everything that go into their dog food, with complete transparency.

There may not be any artifical preservatives in a recipe, but it doesn't mean there aren't any in the ingredients. Butternut Box contains no artificial preservatives in either their food or ingredients.

Some dog foods contain 'derivatives of vegetable origin'. This vague language primarily means cereals, vegetables and legumes that pet food companies can switch between to lower costs. Butternut Box only uses high quality, freshly prepared vegetables. They know where they come from and who grows them.
