Is your dog ready for the next challenge? Have you got the basics mastered and wondering how to challenge your dog next? The IMDT Partnership Grades are globally recongnised as prestigious benchmarks in dog training amd will guarantee to challenge even the most obedient dogs!
£150.00 per dog
For those looking to start the IMDT Partnership Grade journey - look no further!
You may have heard the phrase "You can't teach an old dog new tricks"... well we wholeheartedly disagree! Dogs of any age love to use their brain to learn new skills (and more importantly, an opportunity to earn tasty treats!) - it's incredibly good for them to keep their brain active. We can help you improve your general training skills, and also learn some new skills too!
We keep our classes light-hearted and friendly, dog training is not a competition! However, there is also structure, we can't just have dogs running wild (as fun as that sounds!). There is a limit to 6 dogs per class, to ensure you and your dog get the time and support you need.
For this course, dogs may be of any age. But please note - in order to attend our Grade 2 course, dogs must have first either completed our Perfect Puppy / (Not So!) Unruly Adolescent Course, or have a basic understanding of commands such as Sit, Down and Stay (this doesn't need to be perfect, but so long as you have attempted to train your dog in some way in the past!). If you're unsure as to whether your dog is ready for Grade 2, please Contact Us.
In order to pass the assesment, your dog will need to show they can perform the following criteria:
1. Loose Lead Walking - 400 metres. Including one left turn, one right turn, one about turn, one Down and one Sit. No treats or toys allowed.
2. Sit - Dog to Sit, Handler to step 10 paces away to ‘poo pick’ a waiting Kong from the floor into a poo bag, then return to dog after 60 seconds. No lure allowed.
3. Down - Dog to Down, Handler to step 20 paces away, untie, then re-tie their shoelace, then return to dog after 60 seconds. No lure allowed.
4. Recall - Handler to leave dog in Sit or Down, walk 20 paces away and Recall the dog to a Sit front present. A long line may be used.
5. Clear Jump - On or Off-lead. Dog to clear jump a height designated safe by the trainer. Handler can go over the jump with the dog, or around the side of the jump.
6. Bow, Spin & Twist - With no lure in hand. Handler to cue Bow, then Spin, then Twist, x3 times in succession.
During the six weeks, we will cover and teach your dog to get them up to this standard. There is no expectation at this level to arrive at your first class with much previous training history (other than having a basic understanding of Sit, Down and Stay). But if you do, then great!
Dog Training should be fun, not stressful, so please be assured that these six weeks will be full of laughter, making new friends and an informal assesment. There is not a final assessment, but you will be assessed discretley over the duration of the course. If there are any areas that we feel you need help with, we will discuss with you by offering you more bespoke advice on how to get your dog up to standard (after all, every dog is different, like us, and sometimes need a slight amendment to the method of teaching!).
